#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Summary :
Quickie spoiler: Judge Fawcett was killed by Nathan Cooley, who wanted the millions of dollars worth of gold that was hidden in his safe. Malcolm knew that Quinn was innocent the whole time; the two were working together in order to get the gold for themselves.

The Setup
The murder of Virginia-based judge Raymond Fawcett and his young lover goes unsolved for three years, until former lawyer turned inmate Malcolm Bannister claims to know whodunit. Using his legal expertise, Malcolm makes a deal with the FBI that has him revealing the culprit in exchange for his freedom: Quinn Rucker, an escaped inmate who told Malcolm he’d planned to break out to kill Fawcett because he had reneged on a bribe. Quinn is found and brought in for questioning. He confesses as fast as he tries taking it back, but it’s too late. Quinn knows Malcolm ratted him out, and vows revenge. Meanwhile, Malcolm is released into witness protection with a new face, via plastic surgery, and a new name: Max Reed. Shortly after, the Feds tell him that his cover has been blown: they overheard a conversation during a jailhouse visit between Quinn and his brother, Dee Ray, who know all about “Max”, and are planning to kill him.

In the history of the United States, only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five. His body is found in his remote lakeside cabin. There is no sign of forced entry or struggle. Just two dead bodies: Judge Fawcett and his young secretary. And one large, state-of-the-art, extremely secure safe, opened and emptied.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (Author)

The extraordinary #1 New York Times bestseller that will be in movie theaters on November 15, 2013, Markus Zusak's unforgettable story is about the ability of books to feed the soul.

Book Summary
It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath. Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.
Liesel is on the train, on her way to be fostered when her brother dies. At his funeral, she picks up a book and keeps it to remind her of him. However, she cannot read. When she arrives at her foster home, her papa (Hans Hubermann) teaches her how to read. At a Nazi book burning ceremony, an officer gives a speech about the importance of cleansing of the German society from "immoral" and "indecent" thoughts through burning books, which provokes Liesel. After the book burning ceremony, Liesel hides a book that survived the fire and takes it home. She is seen by Ilsa Hermann, the mayor's wife and mama's (Rosa Hubermann) customer. When Liesel is at the mayor's to drop the laundry, Ilsa shares her magnificent library and its books with her. The mayor eventually discharges Liesel. This forces her to start "borrowing" books from Ilsa's library, hence earning the nickname "The Book Thief".
